A leading global alternative investment firm with a strong focus on event-driven and special situations strategies is seeking to add an Associate to its US Equities / Merger Arbitrage team in New York.
The firm is a long-established, multi-strategy platform with a global footprint and a significant presence in public markets investing, including merger arbitrage, distressed, and credit strategies. Its New York office serves as a primary hub for its event-driven investing activity.
The Role
The Associate will join a high-conviction merger arbitrage team focused on analyzing announced M&A transactions across sectors and geographies. The strategy is fundamentally driven, with deep focus on deal-specific analysis, regulatory considerations, and transaction dynamics.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify, analyze, and monitor merger arbitrage and special situations investments from announcement through close
- Build and maintain detailed financial models to evaluate deal spreads and risk-adjusted outcomes
- Track regulatory, legal, and market developments impacting active transactions
- Support investment recommendations through deep fundamental and event-driven research
- Engage with external stakeholders as part of transaction diligence
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- 2–5 years of experience in investment banking (M&A preferred), ideally at a top-tier bulge bracket bank or leading boutique platform
- Strong analytical and financial modeling skills with exposure to live, announced transactions
- Strong communication skills and comfort engaging externally with counterparties
- Genuine interest in public markets and event-driven investing
