Dartmouth Partners
Dartmouth Partners is working with a leading institutional equipment finance platform to identify an experienced equipment valuation professional to help build and scale an in house valuation function. This is a highly visible role with real influence over strategy, process design, and execution.
The firm manages a large, diversified equipment finance portfolio and is in the process of transitioning valuations from a third party provider to an internal platform. This hire will play a central role in that evolution.
The Opportunity
This position offers the chance to own and build a core capability within a sophisticated investment platform. The successful candidate will have meaningful input into valuation framework design, vendor oversight, internal reporting, and long-term valuation strategy.
This is best suited for someone already operating in an institutional environment with direct equipment valuation responsibility, rather than a purely advisory, audit, or consulting background.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive valuation analysis across a broad range of equipment types, including construction, industrial, medical, and technology assets
- Develop and maintain valuation methodologies, benchmarks, and assumptions throughout the asset lifecycle
- Oversee and review third party appraisals, ensuring quality, consistency, and compliance with internal standards
- Build and enhance internal valuation processes, documentation, and governance frameworks
- Maintain accurate valuation data, depreciation schedules, and historical records within internal systems
- Prepare valuation analyses and materials for internal stakeholders across investment, credit, finance, and risk teams
- Monitor market conditions and industry trends affecting equipment values and adjust methodologies accordingly
- Support origination, underwriting, portfolio management, and end of lease decision making
Candidate Profile
- Direct experience valuing equipment within an equipment finance, leasing, or asset backed lending platform
- Background in building, running, or materially contributing to an internal valuation or asset management function
- Strong understanding of secondary markets, residual value risk, and asset lifecycle dynamics
- Ability to operate both strategically and hands on, with comfort designing processes while executing day to day analysis
- Strong communication skills and the ability to partner with senior investment and risk professionals
- Consulting or audit only profiles are unlikely to be a fit
Compensation
- Base salary range is approximately $150,000 to $190,000
- Meaningful flexibility for more senior profiles with deep, directly relevant experience
- Competitive overall compensation package
