The strategy is in the bracket of opportunistic credit, seeking low teens returns. Loans can be bilateral or club and in the form of rescue financings, DIPs or other special situations.
The firm has a new pot of capital to deploy, hence their desire to build their origination pipeline across the US.
This new hire will compliment the firm’s existing origination capabilities (relationships with advisors and trading desks) by conducting proactive outreach to potential sources of off-market deals, including corporates in the relevant sectors / of the right size and to counterparties who may have connectivity with such companies including family offices, niche advisory firms, accounting firms, tax advisors etc.
This individual will build, develop and maintain relationships that develop a pipeline of future investment opportunities, albeit with the acceptance that this activity is high volume for a relatively low hit rate.
