The Role: Our client is seeking a highly motivated Investment Associate to join their growing London-based team. This is a key position offering significant exposure to all aspects of the investment lifecycle — from deal sourcing and evaluation through to execution and portfolio management.
The Associate will work closely with senior investment professionals to:
- Conduct market and sector research to identify compelling investment themes
- Analyse business models and perform rigorous commercial due diligence
- Build detailed financial models and valuation analyses (DCF, LBO, trading comps)
- Assist with deal structuring and negotiations
- Prepare investment committee materials and participate in internal discussions
- Support ongoing value creation initiatives and performance monitoring for portfolio companies
- Represent the firm in meetings with entrepreneurs, advisors, and industry stakeholders
Key Responsibilities:
- Originate and evaluate new investment opportunities through both inbound and outbound sourcing
- Conduct industry research, competitive benchmarking, and thematic mapping
- Build and maintain complex financial models to support investment decisions
- Prepare internal presentations, memos, and investment committee materials
- Coordinate third-party due diligence (legal, accounting, commercial, etc.)
- Collaborate with portfolio company leadership teams on strategic initiatives
- Track portfolio performance and support exit planning and execution
Candidate Requirements:
- 2–4 years of relevant experience in private equity, investment banking, strategy consulting, or a similar analytical role
- Strong academic background; degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field
- Proven financial modelling and valuation skills; LBO experience preferred
- Strong commercial acumen and the ability to assess business models critically
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present clearly and concisely
- High level of professionalism, self-motivation, and attention to detail
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
- Genuine interest in investing, private markets, and long-term value creation
