Overview:
A leading global private equity firm is seeking a seasoned Fund Chief Operating Officer to oversee all investment-related operations across the firm’s private equity funds. This role sits at the heart of the investment platform and acts as a strategic partner to the front office, senior leadership, and investors.
The Fund COO will be responsible for ensuring institutional-grade execution across the full fund lifecycle—from fund launch through deployment, portfolio operations, exits, and investor reporting—while driving operational excellence, scalability, and risk management across a complex, global investment organization.
Key Responsibilities
Investment & Fund Operations
Own end-to-end investment operations across all private equity funds, including capital calls, distributions, valuations, deal execution support, and exit processes.
Partner closely with deal teams to ensure efficient transaction execution, data integrity, and operational readiness throughout the investment lifecycle.
Oversee NAV production, portfolio monitoring, performance analytics, and valuation governance in coordination with internal teams and third-party providers.
Ensure operational consistency and best practices across strategies, geographies, and fund vintages.
Front Office Partnership
Act as a trusted operating partner to Investment Partners, Principals, and deal teams.
Provide real-time operational insight to support investment decision-making.
Help design and implement scalable processes that enable front-office efficiency without compromising controls or investor standards.
Investor & LP Engagement
Serve as a senior operational point of contact for LPs, consultants, and advisory boards.
Lead operational aspects of investor due diligence, ongoing transparency, and ad-hoc LP requests.
Oversee production and quality of investor reporting, including quarterly reports, capital account statements, and performance disclosures.
Partner with IR and fundraising teams during fund launches and re-ups to ensure operational credibility and readiness.
Governance, Risk & Controls
Own fund-level governance, policies, and operating frameworks.
Ensure compliance with fund documentation, regulatory requirements, and internal controls.
Lead relationships with auditors, tax advisors, administrators, custodians, and other key service providers.
Proactively identify operational, valuation, and liquidity risks and implement mitigation strategies.
Platform & Team Leadership
Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing investment operations team.
Drive process automation, systems enhancements, and data architecture improvements.
Evaluate and implement best-in-class fund accounting, reporting, and portfolio management systems.
Act as a key contributor to firm-wide operational strategy and long-term platform scaling.
Qualifications & Experience
15+ years of experience in private equity investment operations, fund operations, or platform leadership.
Proven experience operating at a senior level within a large, complex PE organization.
Deep understanding of private equity fund structures, waterfalls, valuation methodologies, and investor reporting standards.
Demonstrated ability to partner effectively with front-office investment professionals and senior leadership.
Significant experience engaging directly with institutional investors and navigating LP scrutiny.
Track record of building and scaling operational teams and infrastructure.
Strong leadership presence, commercial mindset, and exceptional attention to detail.
