Overview:

A leading global private equity firm is seeking a seasoned Fund Chief Operating Officer to oversee all investment-related operations across the firm’s private equity funds. This role sits at the heart of the investment platform and acts as a strategic partner to the front office, senior leadership, and investors.

The Fund COO will be responsible for ensuring institutional-grade execution across the full fund lifecycle—from fund launch through deployment, portfolio operations, exits, and investor reporting—while driving operational excellence, scalability, and risk management across a complex, global investment organization.

Key Responsibilities

Investment & Fund Operations

  • Own end-to-end investment operations across all private equity funds, including capital calls, distributions, valuations, deal execution support, and exit processes.

  • Partner closely with deal teams to ensure efficient transaction execution, data integrity, and operational readiness throughout the investment lifecycle.

  • Oversee NAV production, portfolio monitoring, performance analytics, and valuation governance in coordination with internal teams and third-party providers.

  • Ensure operational consistency and best practices across strategies, geographies, and fund vintages.

Front Office Partnership

  • Act as a trusted operating partner to Investment Partners, Principals, and deal teams.

  • Provide real-time operational insight to support investment decision-making.

  • Help design and implement scalable processes that enable front-office efficiency without compromising controls or investor standards.

Investor & LP Engagement

  • Serve as a senior operational point of contact for LPs, consultants, and advisory boards.

  • Lead operational aspects of investor due diligence, ongoing transparency, and ad-hoc LP requests.

  • Oversee production and quality of investor reporting, including quarterly reports, capital account statements, and performance disclosures.

  • Partner with IR and fundraising teams during fund launches and re-ups to ensure operational credibility and readiness.

Governance, Risk & Controls

  • Own fund-level governance, policies, and operating frameworks.

  • Ensure compliance with fund documentation, regulatory requirements, and internal controls.

  • Lead relationships with auditors, tax advisors, administrators, custodians, and other key service providers.

  • Proactively identify operational, valuation, and liquidity risks and implement mitigation strategies.

Platform & Team Leadership

  • Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing investment operations team.

  • Drive process automation, systems enhancements, and data architecture improvements.

  • Evaluate and implement best-in-class fund accounting, reporting, and portfolio management systems.

  • Act as a key contributor to firm-wide operational strategy and long-term platform scaling.

Qualifications & Experience

  • 15+ years of experience in private equity investment operations, fund operations, or platform leadership.

  • Proven experience operating at a senior level within a large, complex PE organization.

  • Deep understanding of private equity fund structures, waterfalls, valuation methodologies, and investor reporting standards.

  • Demonstrated ability to partner effectively with front-office investment professionals and senior leadership.

  • Significant experience engaging directly with institutional investors and navigating LP scrutiny.

  • Track record of building and scaling operational teams and infrastructure.

  • Strong leadership presence, commercial mindset, and exceptional attention to detail.

Ideal Profile

  • Background as a Fund COO, Head of Fund Operations, or senior operational leader at a top-tier private equity firm.

  • Highly credible with investment professionals while maintaining independence and control discipline.

  • Strategic thinker with a hands-on execution style.

  • Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, high-expectation environment with global complexity.
