Group Financial Controller

Equiom Finance is a trusted partner of the business and involved in the decision making process. The work we do is challenging, analytical and complex which makes each day at work a unique experience. The Finance department is made up of 30 people, responsible for all aspects of the finance function across multiple jurisdictions; reporting and forecasting, corporate finance, treasury, accounting, commercial finance business partnering and running the audits and filing of accounts for the Group and it’s 50+ entities.

The Finance Control team is made up of 20 people and is a critical function for both the Finance organisation as well as the business. Financial Control is responsible for preparing the monthly accounts, running the Group audit and preparing and filing annual accounts. In addition, the Operations team is responsible for working with our business partners to prepare and issue
invoices to clients as well as managing the accounts payable function to pay suppliers in an accurate and timely manner.

The Role
 
The Group Financial Controller is a newly created role and will lead the Control and Operations teams, bringing them together under 1 leader. The successful candidate will report to the CFO and be part of the Equiom Finance Leadership Team. They will be responsible for leading and coaching a diverse team across multiple jurisdictions, running the month end process and working with our Audit firm to complete audits and the filing of accounts. The GFC will also be responsible for billing clients and paying suppliers on time and in an efficient manner and working with the Managing Directors and Client Services teams to build improvements to existing processes and controls.

Equiom will be investing in an upgrade to the existing client platform and as a result, the Finance team will migrate to a new version of its current accounting system, Business Central. The GFC will support delivery, ensuring successful implementation and driving consistent and repeatable processes across each jurisdiction. The candidate will also be responsible for supporting any potential future equity sale of the business and the re-financing of the Group’s existing debt facility.

Core Responsibilities
  • Deliver the month-end, targeting a 4 day close period, completing Balance Sheet reconciliations
  • Plan and deliver Group and component entity Audits and filing of accounts to agreed timetables and regulatory deadlines
  • Deliver accurate and on time Billing and Payment processes
  • Improve controls and the operational control environment of the business
  • Prepare the business for sale and support the Equity sale process (timing TBC)
  • Coach, develop and strengthen the financial control team
  • Provide thought leadership to the finance organisation
  • Working with business partners and the Shared Service Centre to ensure group-wide tax compliance and timely tax submissions

Desired Experience

3-5 year minimum post qualified experience having worked in Financial Control roles in industry, preferably in a blue-chip company Accounting qualification Stakeholder management at c-suite level. Ability to influence decision makers and lead conversations to ensure optimal financial outcomes for Equiom Ability to drive results, having a track record of high performance and examples of delivering improvements to controls and financial processes Excellent communication skills; ability to deliver key messages and drive action to improve results Exhibiting a Growth Mindset; having an inquisitive mind, desire to learn and take on stretch goals Self-motivated with an ability to organise and work independently A self-starter who is willing to get stuck in and role up his/her sleeves
