Equities & Multi-Asset
Compensation Guide 2023

Our 2023 Equities & Multi-Asset Compensation Guide is complete. The guide offers an analysis of compensation figures and trends across various sectors: Hedge Funds, Long-Only Funds, Sell-Side Research, Fund of Funds/Multi-Asset, and ESG.

This year’s findings reflect the changes in compensation that have occurred as a result of the ongoing macroeconomic conditions and a slowdown in hiring off the back of a period of hyper-growth.

Key findings:

  • While some base salaries have risen, overall compensation increases have been more muted so far this year with one sector bucking the trend and seeing a noticeable uptick.
  • Compensation in the long-only space has mirrored trends within broader financial services with the junior end witnessing inflationary salary increases which have not been reflected at the mid- and senior levels.
  • Consolidation is evident across the board, with more capital allocated to larger multi-strategy hedge funds. On the sell-side, there have been some well-known mergers, resulting in firms expanding their offering to the buy-side.
  • Gender diversity remains a key challenge with banks coming out on top in a thin field.
